w/c 27th September

We’ve had another wonderful week in Y5/6. The Y6’s have represented the school excellently during their bikeability and have learnt skills to keep themselves and others safe whilst travelling on their bikes.

During this time the Y5’s have explored picture books and created their own stories. We discovered that children’s stories often include animals and contain a message to teach the children. This formed part of our success criteria for making our own books.

Yesterday, we enjoyed Red Dance workshops on our launch day for Black History Month. Alongside this we explored Mae Jemison and have created posters about all the wonderful things she has done- not only being the First black woman in space but also the projects she has taken on since then.

The Y5’s from our class have completed their sports leaders training today. We are really excited to see the children sharing the games and activities they have learnt with the younger children.

Amongst all the excitement, we have managed to fit in maths and English. In English, we have read another 3 chapters of our class text Holes. Chapter 7 was particularly exciting as we discovered the back story behind Stanley’s no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing-great-great-grandfather!

Have a lovely weekend.
