For children not in school

Hello,

Throughout the coming weeks I am aware that there will be occasions that individual children will need to be at home for various reasons. If a child is ill, I would not be expecting them to work as they will need to recover. However, for children needing isolate (e.g. awaiting test results or symptoms in the household) and able to work I will direct the children to some learning on Google Classroom. I will talk to the children in school about how and where to find this. All children should have been sent an invite to our new classroom, so just need to login to Google Classroom.

Have a lovely day,

Miss C x

Welcome to Y5/6!

Wow, what an amazing start! I have had the best week getting to know you all. Thank you to all the children for adapting so well. Although things have been slightly different, it has still been a great week and I’m so proud of every child in the way they have settled back in.

We have had lots of fun and done lots of exciting things. We have asked ‘Can I build another me?’, created some artwork for our reading corner and RE display, written about what we didn’t do in the summer holidays, started our Geography topic on the Amazon and even managed to complete an arithmetic paper. I’m so proud of every child and please don’t worry about these scores, it’s to help give an indication of where we are at and how to make progress in the coming weeks There will be things the children might not yet know on there. The children will be allowed to bring these home next week after I have had chance to look through them.

It was also lovely to begin our RE topic thinking about ‘Ourselves’. Each child was given a piece of paper and everyone wrote  something positive about them on the paper- I hope they have all saved them. It is so great to know what amazing, kind and friendly children we have in our class. We have started reading our class novel called No Ballet Shoes in Syria by Catherine Bruton which has been lovely to share.

I’m really excited about this year to see all the children to grow into the independent confident children I know they can be.

Have a lovely weekend everybody. Miss C x

Final Week

Hello Superstars,

Wow how quick has this year gone?! It seems like only yesterday we were getting to know each other on transition day. I’m going to miss you all so much and I’m so thankful for the time we spent together. Thank you for being superstars all year and getting on with what has proved to be the craziest school year I have ever experienced.

This week in school we will be having lots of fun and enjoying our final few days together. Year 5, at home I have set some simple revision tasks for you to get on with- nothing too difficult for the final week. Find all the information on Google Classroom.

RE: Continue with the Summer of Hope CAFOD task- I’ve seen some great work so far.

As always, find some time for something physical and lots of reading! I’m excited to show you the new books I’ve ordered to read over the summer.

I can’t wait to spend the last few days together. I hope you all have a lovely and restful summer.

W.B 29th June

Good Morning,

It was so lovely to see most of you in school last week. I really enjoyed being with the Penguins and Dolphins. I’ve heard that Y6 are being amazing as always and it’s great to see you at playtimes.

This week’s home learning for year will be very similar to last week. You can find everything you need on Google Classroom.

There are English lessons for each day. We will do this in school on the days you are in.

There are 2 Oak academy maths lessons and 1 Arithmetic quiz. These are for the 3 days at home. We will be continuing with our work on Fractions in school (Those not in school or in the Key worker groups have this on MyMaths).

We are continuing our work on rocks for our Science and in PSHE we will be thinking about making decisions and influences.

In school we will be doing an RE lesson all about the Beatitudes as well as some artwork.

I’m really looking forward to another amazing week.

Home Learning 22nd June

Good Morning,

I hope you’ve all had a lovely weekend and Y5’s enjoyed the Hollowford at home residential. If you haven’t sent any pictures please do so ASAP so I can add them to the video before I share it on Google Classroom.

I hope Y6 had a wonderful week in school last week. It was great to see some of you and I hope to see others this week. I’m excited to see most of you this week, either in my bubbles or around school.

For Y5, this week I have sent suggested timetables on Google Classroom. These are specific to your group as it will be slightly different depending on the days you are in school. If you are in Thursday/Friday make sure you have completed the lessons before coming in. There is 1x maths each day and 1x English each day as well as a Science and PSHE for the week.

Please continue with the daily physical activities as well as TTRS and reading. Keep up with Lexia if you have it too.

I can’t wait to see Penguins later and Dolphins on Thursday!

See you all soon, Miss C x

Home Learning 15th June

Good Morning,

It was so lovely to see so many of you on Google Meet on Friday and to hear all the things you have been up to. Please watch out on Google Classroom for other Google Meets this week.

Y6’s please look at the Y6 blog for your work.

This week we will be using Oak Academy for both English and Maths. We will be using these to provide consistency when we return to school, so it is helpful to get into the routine of using these. Follow the lessons in order from Google classroom and comment how you found each lesson.

Maths: Continuing with decimals

English: Persuasive letters. These videos often comment on previous sessions, please don’t worry about this as it will not impact the learning. The lessons include spellings, please do these too! You can ignore where the teacher asks you to post on social media- there is no need to do this.

Hollowford

This week would have been our residential to Hollowford. It’s a real shame we can’t go, but we can still have a great time doing something special. Have a look at Google Classroom for information about the at home residential. I can’t wait to see what you get up to!

PSHE

There is another PSHE video lesson this week, this time it is all about Mental health.

RE

Have a look at the second lesson in our RE topic: Freedom and Responsibility. You will write a short diary entry imagining you are an Israelite in the desert with Moses.

Science

This week the lesson is all about how metamorphic rock is formed.

As always don’t forget to keep up with something physical, reading and TTRS. If you have Lexia make sure you are doing 20 minutes daily.

I hope you have a wonderful week.

Keep smiling,

Miss C x
